Disney's Haunted Mansion Holiday is BACK!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in Disneyland. No, we’re not talking about the holidays. We’re talking about Halloween Time, which Disneyland goes all out for. There’s decor in both parks and Downtown Disney, lots of fun Halloween activities, hundreds of Halloween foods and drinks, and so much more.

Perhaps the best tradition of the season, though, is Haunted Mansion Holiday, the annual Nightmare Before Christmas overlay on Haunted Mansion. If that’s what you’ve been waiting for, head to Disneyland now because Haunted Mansion Holiday is officially open.

Haunted Mansion closed on August 8th to get its annual Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, and as of today, it has officially reopened. One thing you’ll notice immediately is all the extra Nightmare Before Christmas decor on the outside of the mansion, including a big black wreath, a giant Pumpkin King Sandy Claws, black banners, and pumpkins.

The ride itself has changed. The Ghost Host informs you that Halloween and Christmas have collided, and the stretching room portraits are now Nightmare Before Christmas characters. Once you get into your Doom Buggy, you’ll see more Nightmare Before Christmas references scattered throughout the ride.

Even Madame Leota has changed her spell for the occasion with her take on the 13 Days of Christmas.

But one of the BEST parts of the ride is in the ballroom, which now has a giant gingerbread house designed especially for this version of the ride. This house changes every year, so it’s always the centerpiece of Haunted Mansion Holiday. This year’s house has a lid that opens to reveal a dancer spinning around, like a gigantic musical gingerbread jewelry box.

You’ll make your way through the rest of the ride, and at the end, instead of bringing a hitchhiking ghost home with you, you’ll find out if you’ve been given a trick or treat. Thanks, Oogie Boogie.

Haunted Mansion Holiday will stick around through the Halloween and holiday season, so you have several months in which to enjoy it. If you want to ride it, we recommend Lightning Lane Multi Pass because the line for this version of Haunted Mansion can get pretty long.
