Spooky season is officially arriving at Disneyland today! That’s right, one of the best Halloween events of the season, Oogie Boogie Bash, is kicking off tonight at Disney California Adventure.

This event is full of special snacks, exclusive characters, spooky entertainment, and so much more! And we are here at the first Oogie Boogie Bash of the season, bringing you EVERYTHING you need to know!
Overview
Oogie Boogie Bash is a five-hour-long specialty ticketed Halloween event that runs on select nights from August 18th through October 31st at DCA.

During this event, the park is transformed into a spooky extravaganza. Tickets for this event range in price from $139 to $199, getting more expensive the closer you get to Halloween.

The party runs from 6 PM to 11 PM, but your ticket lets you enter the park starting at 3 PM.
Crowds
This event is very popular, and in years past we have seen very long lines for merchandise and characters. On opening night the crowds weren’t insane, but the crowds were showing up right at 6 PM.

We made our way through the crowds to snag our wristbands, which is how Cast Members can tell who is there for the party, and then we were ready to start the fun.

Event Guide
The Event Guide is your key to ALL of the Oogie Boogie Bash fun, so make sure you pick one up when you enter the party. It will tell you where to find the characters, treat trails, snacks, PhotoPass locations, and more. Speaking of PhotoPass, all of these photos are included with your ticket, so make sure to take advantage of them throughout the night.

Not only is the Event Guide super helpful to plan out your night and navigate around the park, but it is also a great free souvenir to remember your time at Oogie Boogie!

We recommend grabbing your Event Guide as soon as you enter the park so you don’t miss any of the fun.
Merchandise
No Disney specialty event would be complete without exclusive merchandise. And Oogie Boogie Bash did not disappoint this year. We found so much incredible merchandise you might just need to snag when you attend the event.

Treat Trails
One of the coolest and most unique parts of Oogie Boogie Bash has to be the Interactive Treat Trails. Unlike the Treat Trails you might be used to in Disney World, these are full of some amazing and rare Disney Villains.

When you enter the party, you’ll be given a free treat bag, and then as you make your way around the Treat Trails, you’ll get lots of candy while seeing some awesome characters.

These are not a typical character meet-and-greet but rather a walk-through where you can say hi and maybe grab a quick photo on your way through. This year we saw Oogie Boogie…

…Syndrome…

…Hades…

…Ernesto de la Cruz…

…Agatha Harkness…

…and the brand-new guest at the party, Yzma.

Villains Grove
Each year during Oogie Boogie Bash, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into the spooky Villains Grove walkthrough experience.

This year you can expect to explore the following sections:
- Frollo’s Sanctuary
- Maleficent’s Will
- Queen of Hearts Garden
- Scar’s Elephant Graveyard
- Dr. Facilier’s Friends on the Other Side
- The Wicked Queen’s Lightning Forest
- Home of the Wisps
- Dawn

This section is a little spookier than the rest of the event, so if you have any little kids, be aware that this area might scare them, especially if you visit after the sun is down.
Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party
Due to construction in the park, the popular Frightfully Fun Parade has been replaced this year by Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party. This is a unique take on a parade that will have a heavy influence from The Haunted Mansion and include lots of characters and spooky music.

But always make sure to check your Event Guide on the night of your party for the exact times.
Food
One of the best parts of attending a specialty event like Oogie Boogie is trying all the themed food and snacks, so you already know we tried lots of treats throughout the night. One of our favorites was at Schmoozies!, the Matcha Mickey-shaped Waffles filled with banana custard for $10.99. Â

We also went over to Cappuccino Cart to try the Mickey-shaped Waffle Macaron for $9.50. This was a Mickey-shaped macaron filled with salted maple buttercream, maple syrup, and topped with chocolate-coated waffle pieces.

There are a bunch of other exclusive treats that you can try at the party, so make sure to grab one of those event guides when you walk in!
Rides
Three rides in DCA get a spooky overlay during Oogie Boogie, and we recommend prioritizing these over the other attractions.
- Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree
- Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween
- Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark

We will continue to update you on all the Oogie Boogie fun throughout the night, so stay tuned with AllEars so you never miss anything!
