13 Dates to Avoid Universal Orlando in 2024

So you’re planning a trip to Universal Orlando for 2024.

Maybe you already have an idea of where you want to stay during your trip, as well as how much time you’d like to spend in Universal Orlando’s theme parks. But if you’re still working out the when we’d like to help. We’re going to do that by telling you when you should NOT go to Universal Orlando in 2024.

January

It might seem like a good idea to start the New Year off right by visiting Universal Orlando, but January 1st is going to be super crowded.

Another two dates you should avoid Universal Orlando in January are January 26th-27th. This is when Universal’s Rock the Universe, Florida’s biggest Christian Music Festival, takes place. That means there are going to be a LOT of folks visiting Universal that weekend.

February

The first day of Universal’s Mardi Gras celebration is also a good day to avoid the parks. In 2024, that date is February 3rd. But don’t worry — you can still enjoy Mardi Gras through April 7th, so if you want to check it out, we recommend going a little later.

March

You’ll probably also want to skip visiting Universal the weekend of March 31st. That’s Easter weekend, meaning a lot of folks have long weekends with the idea of spending it at Universal Orlando. This also often correlates with Spring Break which can also bring crowds.

May

May 27th is Memorial Day so that entire weekend will be VERY busy at Universal Orlando. We get it — three-day weekends are a great time for everyone to visit, but if you don’t like crowds, you’ll want to avoid that weekend.

September

We might argue that ALL of summer might not be a great time to visit due to the Florida heat, but you do you. However, September 2nd is Labor Day, and you’ll want to avoid the parks that weekend.

You’ll also want to avoid the first night of Halloween Horror Nights. We don’t have an exact date for that yet, but it’s usually the first or second week of September. That first night is brutal, so we recommend grabbing tickets for later in the season.

October

With that being said, if you’re NOT attending Halloween Horror Nights, you may want to avoid Universal Studios Florida on the days the party happens because the park will close early. We’ll also say to skip Universal Orlando on Halloween, October 31st.

November

There are a few days to avoid in November. The first day of the Holidays celebration at Universal usually happens around the second weekend of the month and you’ll want to skip visiting on that day. You’ll also want to skip Thanksgiving weekend — the parks will be very busy during that entire long weekend. Thanksgiving in 2024 is on November 28th.

December

In December, the obvious two days to avoid Universal Orlando are December 24th (Christmas Eve) and December 25th (Christmas Day). Both theme parks will be VERY busy on those two days, so it’s best to avoid them. The same goes for December 31st (New Year’s Eve).

So if you keep those dates in mind and can plan your trip around them, you’re sure to have a less crowded and less stressful trip to Universal Orlando.
